ENGLISH FOR TERTIARY STUDY 2009 (SACE Direct Entry to University / TAFE)

Introduction

The English for Tertiary Studies Programme (ETS) is for students planning to study a University / VET / Hospitality Programme at an Australian Tertiary Institution or for students interested in an academic focussed course.

SACE works closely with our DIRECT ENTRY Partner Institutions below.

Students enrolled in ETS Courses become familiar with the academic English required for Tertiary Study and have practiced their English skills in their course.


Course Aims

The course aims to expand and develop students existing English skills to enable them to achieve success in academic study.

The course also develops and expands students study skills and assists students to develop and practice independent learning strategies important for tertiary study.

Students who successfully complete the SACE Direct Entry Programme (English for Tertiary Studies I / II / III) at the appropriate level and meet the academic entry requirements for University / TAFE are able to gain direct entry to courses offered by the educational institute listed below.  Students do not need to sit an additional IELTS test.

English for Tertiary Study Courses

• English for Tertiary Studies III (Direct Entry University Postgraduate Programme)

Entry Requirements

English for Tertiary Studies I: IELTS 5 (in all 4 skills Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing)
(Direct Entry TAFE pathway)  OR successful completion of the SACE ETS Pre-Entry Test / Assessment for Entry

English for Tertiary Studies II:     IELTS 5.5 (in all 4 skills – Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing)
(Direct Entry University     OR successful completion of ETS I 
Undergraduate Programme)    OR successful completion of the SACE ETS Pre-Entry Test / Assessment for Entry

English for Tertiary Studies III:     IELTS 6.0 (in all 4 skills – Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing)
(Direct Entry University     OR successful completion of ETS II
Postgraduate Programme)    OR successful completion of the SACE ETS Pre-Entry Test / Assessment for Entry
